This painting is about the fall salmon migration through the North Pacific. I used a stencil from a “forever stamp” page from the post office trying to re-use ordinary detritus as a tool and to emphasize the idea of forever with the plastic in our oceans. The stacked yellow elements suggesting sculptor Donald Judd are now turned to Legos as a symbol of items from washed overboard from container ships ending up on the migratory route of oceanic travelers.
